Nokia N8 hands-on — Engadget

Opvolger van de N97 en het eerste toestel met Symbian^3 als operating system; “the first fully open source version of the Symbian platform”. Lijkt een mooi ding te worden, vind alleen de kleur groen welke Engadget ter review heeft gekregen wat minder, vind persoonlijk de zwarte of de oranje mooier. Testversie MeeGo voor Nokia N900 komt eind deze maand

Het was nog niet duidelijk of de volgende versie van Maemo (die, na de fusie met Intel, MeeGo is genoemd) ook op de N900 beschikbaar zou komen. Het leek een beetje alsof de N900 het enige Maemo 5 toestel zou worden en dat er daardoor maar weinig commerciele software voor beschikbaar zou komen. Eind deze maand komt echter al de eerste versie van MeeGo, gaaf!!

Nokia & Intel join forces for next generation Maemo OS!

Nokia en Intel gaan samenwerken; Moblin is het Linux-OS waar Intel mee bezig was en Maemo staat op de internet tables van Nokia. De volgende versie wordt een fusie tussen deze twee genaamd MeeGo. Hopelijk kunnen Intel en Nokia er samen voor zorgen dat Linux een groter marktaandeel krijgt; doordat het publiek op dergelijke apparaten geen Windows-compatibility verwacht ligt hier een goede mogelijkheid om martkaandeel te pakken.
